Key people
It’s all about the team. Langtree has a very experienced team drawn from a diverse range of backgrounds, both technically and commercially. The team at Langtree comprises of 50 people across four offices, and the following are our Board of Directors.
Bill Ainscough
Chairman
Bill has over 30 years house building and property experience. He has been a director of a number of public companies and has a variety of commercial interests, including Wain Group Limited where he is the chairman and major shareholder.
Bill is chairman and owner of Langtree, which he founded in 1982.
John Downes
Managing Director
John is the Managing Director of Langtree where he has led the business through a period of significant growth.
Before joining Langtree he held a senior position with English Partnerships in Liverpool, and prior to this he worked at British Coal where he headed the development team responsible for redeveloping closing colleries.
John is a Chartered Surveyor and has excellent knowledge of the grant regime and the regeneration industry.
Malcolm Jackson
Board Director (Finance)
Malcolm is Langtree’s Board Director (Finance). His background includes six years at Wainhomes where his roles included Group Company Secretary and Divisonal Finance Director. Prior to this Malcolm worked for KPMG in the North West and Australia.
He is a Chartered Accountant and an Associate Member of Corporate Treasurers.
Martin Mellor
Board Director (Property)
Martin Mellor is a Chartered Surveyor and Board Director (Property) at Langtree.Martin joined Langtree over fifteen years ago and is responsible for overseeing the letting and management of the Group’s property portfolio across the business.
Prior to his employment at Langtree he was in private practice with Dunlop Heywood in Manchester, where he worked for seven years, dealing in all aspects of industrial property throughout the North West and Midlands.
Stephen Barnes
Board Director (Development)
Stephen Barnes is a Chartered Surveyor and Langtree’s Board Director (Development). He has been with Langtree for 8 years. During this time, Stephen has been heavily involved in growing Langtree's development business and encouraging the Company's partnership with the public sector.
Previously, Stephen spent 5 years with the North West Development Agency and English Partnerships where he worked on a wide range of regeneration and development projects within the North West.
Tim Johnston
Non-Executive Director
Tim is a partner in AMION Consulting, a specialist firm which advises on regeneration and economic development, and is a Non-Executive Director of Langtree.
As well as being an economist, he is also a Chartered Accountant.
James Dow
Non-Executive Director
James was formerly with KPMG, latterly being the corporate finance partner in charge of the North West region.
He was with KPMG for 18 years before resigning to establish Dow Schofield Watts LLP.
James is the co-author of Private Equity: Law and Practice and has particular expertise in deal and debt structuring.
