Planning permission received at Bromsgrove Technology Park

Date: 30th September 2010

Regeneration partnership PxP West Midlands has received planning permission for £9 million of speculative development, comprising up to 98,000 sq ft of flexible industrial units, at Bromsgrove Technology Park, Worcestershire.

With permission now in place, the partnership is set to build out what will be some of the first speculative development in Bromsgrove, and indeed the region, since the beginning of the downturn marking PxP West Midlands' continued confidence in the Midlands' property market despite the uncertain economy.

Approval has been granted for flexible B1, B2 (general industrial) and B8 (storage and distribution) facilities ranging from 1,400-5,300 sq ft on the 6.4 acre site, which once fully complete has the potential to house up to 260 employees within the scheme.

On-site infrastructure is already in place enabling work to build out phase one of the development to begin early 2011, with all four blocks of the phase one buildings totalling 42,000 sq ft ready for occupation by mid 2011.

The site is situated in a prime position off the A38 at Isidore Road, Aston Fields in close proximity to the M42 and M5, providing easy access to the nearby M40 and M6.

Having worked closely with Bromsgrove District Council to bring the development forward, PxP West Midlands - which is a Limited Partnership between Advantage West Midlands and Langtree - is delighted to have attained planning for the site which will transform the quality and availability of Bromsgrove's current limited industrial unit offer.

Mark Stapleton, Managing Director at PxP West Midlands, said: "With limited modern or quality industrial space available within a 15 miles radius of Bromsgrove, the granted permission presents a fantastic opportunity for businesses in the region to be located on the already established Bromsgrove Technology Park.

"We are confident in our plans to build speculatively in a climate where others have held back, particularly as we are seeing signs of pent up demand for the type of turnkey solution units that will offer flexible usage with the option of mezzanine office space. The site will provide an ideal opportunity for manufacturing businesses to locate to new facilities, which will achieve a BREEAM ‘very good' sustainable standard in a prime location, offering fast access to the region's motorway network.

"Bromsgrove District Council has been extremely supportive of our plans for the Park and with the potential to create as many as 260 new jobs across the entire site, we believe that the scheme will benefit the local economy, as well as regional businesses looking for high quality space and a well located base to grow."

Having received planning permission for the Bromsgrove Technology Park site, PxP West Midlands is marketing the speculative scheme for let or for sale via the Bromsgrove offices of Thomas Lister and Birmingham office of Colliers International. Interested parties should contact Andrew Croot (01527 889225) or Simon Norton (0121 265 7500).
